Massage & Laser treatment for:
Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Of all the alternative therapies available, more and more research is showing that massage therapy provides real benefits to people dealing with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. A study in 2011 showed that massage therapy caused reductions in sensitivity to pain at tender points in patients with these conditions, as well as lowering anxiety levels and increasing quality of sleep. According to this same study, massage therapy is particularly effective when it is administered to soft and connective tissues because this improves muscle flexibility, as well as modulating local blood and lymph circulation.

I will do an individualised intake to assess your specific case.

During massage treatment, I will use carefully applied techniques to relive,

muscle tension, sooth taut bands with trigger points and or tender points and soothe sore muscles without stressing the joints or causing additional pain or discomfort.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) Therapy, MLS Laser Therapy and Dry Cupping Therapy can also be incorporated as a combination treatment for Fibromyalgia clients.

Massage & Laser treatment for:
Ehlers Danlos Syndrome & Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder

Regular massage is important if you are hypermobile or have a connective tissue disorder, such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Fascia, the supportive connective tissue of the body, surrounds muscle, bones, tendons, ligaments, and even internal organs. If there is a problem with fascia in the body it can cause significant pain because fascia has many bundles of nerve fibers that run through it. Massage is helpful for fascial pain seen commonly in hypermobile clients. Although EDS can show up in a number of ways across organ systems, people with the hypermobility type are starting to incorporate massage into their management approach.

The majority of my clients have the hypermobility type. With hypermobility, many people who have overly flexible joints live with muscular pain as their muscles work overtime to compensate for the ligaments.

Laser Therapy and Massage, particularly with a massage gun or percussion device, can relive painful trigger points (muscle knots) centralised or dysfunctional pain and general muscle aches and stiffness. Overall, massage and laser therapy is a helpful pain-relieving mechanism, that if done regularly, can result in notable pain relief.

Comorbidities with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) are common, and bladder dysfunction (urinary incontinence) is one of them. This often results in clients having to use incontinence products and this can cause self-consciousness.

As a result, they may avoid massage or laser treatments. With this in mind, I will help you put aside any nervousness or embarrassment you might have if you’re living with bladder dysfunction.

I will do an individualized intake to assess your specific case.

My massage therapy will avoid stretching as the joints already surpass their range of motion. Applied techniques can soothe sore muscles without stressing the joints. I would also minimize joint movement techniques and use support if moving one. Although we may agree that you would benefit from firm pressure, I would use a targeted approach to avoid unnecessarily aggressive manoeuvres.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) Therapy, MLS Laser Therapy and

Dry Cupping Therapy can also be incorporated as a combination treatment for

Ehlers Danlos Syndrome & Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder clients.

Dry Cupping Therapy for Fibromyalgia

There are two ways that Cupping Therapy can help Fibromyalgia patients. In the first procedure, it helps in blood flow. Better blood circulation helps in relieving pain as it will help in feeling less stiff. In the second procedure, the cups are moved around the skin which helps in relaxing, managing anxiety and depression.

Some patients might be afraid that cupping will make the trigger points around the bodies to hurt more, but it is claimed that this therapy does not worsen any of the Fibromyalgia symptoms.

Here at Sunstone Laser Pain Clinic I'm pleased to provide Cupping Therapy to those who know the torment of Fibromyalgia syndrome.

Dry cupping offers a range of benefits, including:

  • Pain Relief: Effective for muscle aches, joint pain, and back pain.

  • Improved Circulation: Enhances blood flow to targeted areas, promoting healing and reducing inflammation.

  • Relaxation: Provides a deep sense of relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety.

  • Detoxification: Helps remove toxins from the body through improved circulation and lymphatic flow.

  • Skin Health: Improves skin tone and can help with conditions like cellulite.

The therapy generally lasts between 10 to 30 minutes, and although it may leave temporary red or dark marks on the skin referred to as “cup marks” these are not usually painful and fade within a few days.

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is treatment that falls outside of mainstream healthcare.
The availability of CAM on the NHS is limited, and in most cases the NHS will not offer such treatments. When a non-mainstream practice is used together with conventional medicine, it's considered "complementary. Complementary therapies are adjunctive: They are used in addition to, not instead of, standard medical care. Complementary therapists are not trained or authorized to diagnose medical conditions. They are trained to recognize "red flag" symptoms and refer patients to appropriate medical professionals when necessary. It's important to remember that Complimentary therapists are not medical doctors and cannot diagnose medical conditions in the same way that a doctor can.
